The value of movement
Movement sparks creativity, fosters resilience and builds confidence. Movement looks different to all of us but it has value for all. Whatever movement is accessible to you.
Movement makes us feel good as long as it doesn’t hurt. It can shift stuck emotions or thought patterns and it releases stress. We all like different movement styles, be it yoga, dancing or CrossFit. Its benefits are far reaching from improving your awareness, building a positive self image or calming your mind. The key is to move in the best way for your body and brain and make sure you look after yourself.
Over training is a common phenomenon and leads to stress and injury. So finding the right amount and type of movement is a lifelong challenge.
Movement is not about making shapes, it’s about navigating the world in a way that makes you feel good and has a positive impact on you. This is how you make a positive impact on the world.
Something to bear in mind as you age, is you don’t use it, you will lose it. When you stop moving, your body will start to stiffen up. But it’s never too late to start moving again, you just need to start where you are. Whether you are coming back from injury or have gotten lethargic over the last few years.
Yoga is a great complimentary movement practice for all other sports. It helps with strength, flexibility and range of motion. It’s mental and emotional benefits are also extremely powerful for all other sports or athletic pursuits.
